Expert Testimonials

I recently had the privilege of hosting Dr. Mike Sonick at our award-winning Seattle Study Club of Atlanta and I have one word that describes his lecture – Fabulous!

His full day program, entitled Treating People Not Patients, was unique and based on his 30 years of practicing comprehensive multi-disciplinary dentistry in his state-of-the-art practice in Fairfield, Connecticut.

We were fortunate to have the entire dental teams present including assistants, hygienists and the administrative team. His program covered the necessity of taking care of the entire patient from the first office contact, be it social media or phone call, to clinical treatment. He discussed the importance of providing the basics, especially patient education and connection, if we wanted to achieve comprehensive predictable care.

The program was enthusiastically received. Surveys of his presentation were unanimously excellent with a 100% rating of 5 – a rarity for my study club.

In my opinion, there are few better presenters for a full day of dental education. He is knowledgeable impactful, entertaining and very funny. Most importantly, he is an honest presenter of utmost integrity. Participants will walk away with tidbits they can use the next day.
I enthusiastically would recommend Dr. Sonick for your group, and I personally look very forward to hosting him again in Atlanta, in the near future. — Colin Richman DMD, Director, Seattle Study Club of Atlanta, Roswell, Georgia

Dr. Michael Sonick recently spoke to our study club for a full day. His topic was “90 Seconds to 90% Case Acceptance: Diagnosis, Treatment Planning and Delivery of Comprehensive Dental Care.” His presentation was unique and invaluable.

Most speakers share their expertise in one of two domains: clinical or managerial. They focus on treatment planning and execution or management of patients, staff, colleagues, and office function. Dr. Sonick ranged between both, sharing his encyclopedic knowledge of human nature, interpersonal relationships, diagnosis and treatment planning, periodontal and implant surgery, and restorative and prosthetic rehabilitation. He based his talk on 30-plus years of experience in practice combined with an encyclopedic knowledge of dental, psychological and sociological research.

Dr. Sonick is an insatiable student and brings decades of learning from a wide range of dental, interpersonal communication, self-mastery, and entrepreneurial sources to his seminar. He is transparent about his successes and failures. His delivery is riveting and often very funny. He never loses his audience.

Dr. Sonick’s mission is to enrich the lives of the people he encounters by discovering and becoming who they are and who they want to be, whether as patients, students, colleagues or friends. His seminar achieves that goal. — Dr. David Rosania, Seacoast Dental Study Club, Portsmouth, NH

Dr. Sonick is a master clinician and an outstanding teacher. Interacting with Mike at his teaching facility is a treat and experience not to be missed. His programs are enlightening and will inspire you to become a better dentist. — Dr. Maurice Salama, Founder, Dental XP

I have spent over 20 years of my career in some form of education, and have seen and heard hundreds of professional speakers (both motivational and educational). I have had the pleasure of working with many of the brightest minds within our industry (as well as a few other industries) and can confidently state, you are one of the best speakers/educators I have ever worked with- period.

I want to elaborate slightly on the term speaker. This is where I feel you really separate yourself from the rest of the group of speakers as a true educator. To clarify, your passion and subject matter is some of the best out there, but there are two distinct unique abilities that you possess that sets you apart from your peers. The first would be your innate ability to teach and not talk to the groups. It is a given for someone with your stature to have the materials and knowledge to present an informative presentation, which would transfer knowledge on to the attendees. But, what you do is far more impressive. You have an ability to read a group of attendees and personally connect with each one of them on a different level as a mentor and educator. You understand not only their individual goals for the event, but also what type of learning skillsets they individually possess. I am not sure if you are conscious of this trait, but I have personally seen you teach the same concept several different ways to the same group, based on the individuals learning abilities. Many people are different types of learners, visual, analytical, etc. By going above and beyond to understand your class’s individual needs, goals, and skillset is truly a unique ability.

The second unique ability would be your capacity to take the complex topics and explain them in a simple way for everyone to comprehend. To quote Albert Einstein; “Genius is making the complex ideas simple, not making the simple ideas complex”. It is very difficult to explain and present complex information to an audience, even behind a charismatic delivery technique. The more complex the information, the more important it is to be engaging and approachable. It is difficult for me to pinpoint how or why it works so well for you, but I guess it wouldn’t be unique if it was easily explained. Obviously the content and visual presentation are important, but I believe these are not the defining factors. I believe it is your overall presentation style that allows you to clarify and teach these techniques so seamlessly. I can only speculate that your ability to maintain your body language, control your voice inflection and cadence, while incorporating humor (where appropriate) and still presenting your information as if you were telling a story, allows you to succeed and separate yourself from your peers. This is not only an extraordinary characteristic but also a distinguished skill. — Ken Varner, Director of Zimmer Biomet Institute, Global Continuing Education

Participant Testimonials

I was one of the students at Dr. Hunt’s implant course in North Carolina. The Korean guy from Iowa who gave you a hard time. I just wanted to say thank you for presenting normal everyday cases that you do, and not showing us sinus lifts and full mouth rehab over and over again. I really appreciate someone, who has done so much, show us a conservative and consistent way of placing implants and growing bone without being in a hurry or overly concerned with money.

I also really appreciate you speaking on the ethical side of things. I’m relatively new to the private practice world and compared to some of my colleagues, I feel too conservative sometimes. However, it’s heartening to hear you speak on the issue so frankly and sincerely. For what it’s worth, your weekend has been the best so far, and I think I learned the most from it. Once I get started, I’ll be sure to refer you my mistakes! Thank you again!. — Dr. Joshua Hall, North Carolina Implant Course

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you how privileged I am to have had the opportunity to meet, speak, and spend time with you. You gave me the opportunity to become part of the Fairfield country Dental Club and participate in the hands-on cadaver course. You have greatly impacted my surgical vision and have elevated my thinking to a higher level.

I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for me. I hope that I can return for further education and that you might bring your talents to Serbia.

Thank you for everything one more time Dr. Sonick. — Dr. Milan Vucetic, Resident in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery – Belgrade, Serbia

Mike changed my approach to the benefits of using implants as a restorative option versus the other modalities. He is very knowledgeable and freely shares his wealth of information. The treatment planning aspects and hands-on portions were invaluable. I did not leave with one or two pearls–I left with a bushel basket of them. — Dr. Alexander Zubkov, Enfield, CT

As a recent graduate, I am glad that I invested in attending Dr.Sonick’s seminars. It was not only comprehensive but a lot of fun. The best part was how he invested in my knowledge and took interest in my questions, even months after the actual course. He wanted to understand my perspective. He is one of the most cordial individuals I have ever met. I have attended two courses and both were fun, but more importantly, I obtained an insight into treatment planning and protocols that vastly expanded my dental universe. I will be back again. — Dr. Chad Johnson, Pleasantville, Iowa

The best implant seminar I have attended. It is the perfect combination of didactic and surgical information. Dr. Sonick’s lecture style combines his exceptional expertise with a relaxed delivery.
