Meet Dr. William MacDonnell
Dr. Bill MacDonnell lives in West Hartford, CT with his wife, Margie. They have four grown
children, Colleen, Andrew, Eileen and Patrick. When not practicing or teaching at
UCONN School of Dental Medicine Bill is very active in civic activities and was chair of
the West Hartford Substance Abuse Commission and is on the boards of Bushnell Park
Foundation, the Cedar Hill Cemetery Foundation, and the Connecticut State Dental Association
Foundation. Bill has been involved in the restoration of the Dr. Horace Wells' monuments in Hartford.
Dr. William MacDonnell is a dentist-anesthesiologist who maintains a sedation
practice caring for patients across the state. His expertise is in conscious
sedation, local anesthesia and medical emergencies. Dr. MacDonnell's services
benefits all types of people--especially those who are medically compromised
and dental phobic.
Dr. MacDonnell was an assistant professor of anesthesiology at the University
of Connecticut Health Center and served as a staff anesthesiologist at the
John Dempsey University Hospital for six years before going into private
practice. Dr. MacDonnell continues to be active in academics as a member of the
University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine
clinical faculty, an appointment that began in 1978.
A past president of the both the Connecticut State Dental Association (CSDA)
and the American Society of Dentists Anesthesiologists, he is dedicated to the
welfare of not only patients but also his fellow dentists. For several years,
he chaired the CSDA's annual state convention and also served as a member of
the House of Delegates of the CSDA and the American Dental Association.
